Lettuce is a super easy veggie to grow. Although it looks rather delicate, lettuce is super hardy. I plant early in the spring and it has tolerated snow storms, freezing nights and can take a good amount of shade. I personally like to use a lettuce mix to get a fun variety of taste, color and texture. Or you may want to create your own mix with lettuce favorites or just use one variety. The method I demonstrate in the video makes use of containers to keep the lettuce slug and other insect free. In the dining experience, there is truly nothing worse for your family or friends than to find a slug in your salad!
