Hello Gardening Friends!

A very popular and long-lived house plant is the Christmas Cactus.  Many people come to me and say, “I have a Christmas Cactus, but it blooms at Thanksgiving.”  I tell them, “That is probably a Thanksgiving Cactus.”  I explain to them how to tell the difference.  There are actually two, distinct blooming cactus which are readily available.  In this video, you will see my Christmas Cactus, which belonged to my grandmother.  It is almost 100 years old!  I have had it for over 50 years.  The Thanksgiving Cactus in the video is a rescue, which was found on the side of the road.  It’s happy, and blooming now!  They are both fantastic for the home, long lived, pest free and easy to care for.  What a joy when they burst into bloom in the late fall and winter!  Sometimes, in their exuberance, they bloom again at Easter.  Learn how to care for them, what they need to thrive and how to propagate them.
